Quicnoid
A downloadable game
This is a new DOS game made in 2022. It runs on MS-DOS or PC-DOS on any computer compatible with the CGA standard. It has no sound at all. It's actually nothing to write home about, it's fairly simple. The name is a play on words quick, as it was born as a self challenge to write a complete game fast, and noid as a tribute to the mythical Arcanoid. Quick had to be shorten to Quic due to DOS restriction to 8 characters on files' names.
The only minimally remarkable thing is it's written in 8086/88 assembly language, assembled in 1984's Microsoft Macro Assembler 3.0, and it was coded in just 6 days of May 2022. If written in BASIC, it maybe could have been finished in a couple of days. My only purpose by writing it was to make a complete, albeit simple, and playable game in just a week by not using any high level language at all. Just the bare metal.
This was just a humble but to me important step into my computer game programming learning process. Video captured on 86Box emulator running a Bondwell XT clone with 8088 4.77 Mhz processor and a regular CGA card.
